Customised contract logistics for our customers

A man stands with his arms crossed in front of a light-coloured concrete wall. He is wearing a dark blue suit, a white shirt and a pocket square in his breast pocket. A smartwatch can be seen on his wrist. The background on the right is kept dark.

Who we are!

Introducing Lars Herweg, Head of Logistics, talks about the challenges and advantages of contract logistics services at JDC, a member of HEUEL LOGISTICS.

“Nothing here is off the shelf,” says Lars Herweg, Head of Contract Logistics at JDC Dahmen in Solingen. “The needs and challenges of our customers are always our top priority.”

As a locally rooted mid-sized company, JDC has always aimed to offer more than standard solutions. This is only possible with a dedicated and reliable team.

Mr. Herweg, you have been leading the logistics division at J. Dahmen GmbH & Co. KG for more than six years. How has contract logistics evolved during this time?

Lars Herweg:

When we started offering contract logistics services alongside our road, sea, and air freight solutions, we were essentially a one-man operation. Thanks to our customers and the strong commitment of our colleagues, this division has gradually grown into a 20-person team of specialists that has built up a high level of expertise over the years.

How do you meet these requirements?

For us, the processes and workflows of our customers are always the central focus. However, we don’t see our role as merely taking over a wide range of services – we also critically review existing processes and identify optimization potential.

Which services do you provide for your customers?

Our goal is to offer end-to-end logistics solutions in order to relieve our customers as much as possible. We manage the entire logistics process, including goods receipt, inspection, and quality assurance.

In addition, we provide warehousing, co-packing, order picking, and kitting services. Packaging, transport, and shipping are also part of our portfolio.

Especially in the area of export and customs processing, which often involves significant complexity, we actively support our customers and take care of these challenges on their behalf. Of course, shipment statuses can be accessed at any time via tracking & tracing. And if goods are returned by the end customer, we ensure efficient and well-structured returns management.

Beyond these services, what can customers expect from you as a mid-sized company?

Our philosophy is very clear: “We Do More.”

We are fully committed to addressing the individual needs of our partners.

Given the current economic environment, how do you view the future?

We remain optimistic, despite the many geopolitical challenges and difficult market conditions. What matters most is the ability to adapt quickly – something that is simply a given in today’s logistics industry.
